Volvo has released more details of the XC60 R-Design
Although the XC60 R-Design doesn’t get any sort of power boost, it does get some tweaks to the setup to provide a more sporty drive. Volvo has stiffened up the chassis and added more damping, and tweaked the steering ratios to give a quicker response. But Volvo reckons this has virtually no impact on ride quality (which begs the question ‘Why didn’t they do it to start with if there’s no trade-off’) and sensibly they have not gone down the lowered suspension route, so the XC60 still has good ground clearance. Volvo has added a rear seat entertainment package option to the XC60
On the cosmetic front, the R-Design gets body coloured lower section, matt silk metallic finish for the trim and chrome tailpipes.
The new 2014 BMW X5 – quicker, bigger and more frugal
Critics may snipe at the BMW X5′s lack of off-road ability as its Achilles heel, but the truth is that the vast majority of X5 owners will never venture anywhere muddier than a boot sale car park. So the trade-off for a great on-road drive is a small price to pay. So X5 owners – and potential owners – will be pleased to know that BMW hasn’t messed with their winning formula in the new 2014 X5, they’ve just added more of the same.
Cadillac today introduced what it describes as an 'urban luxury concept' - aka a posh supermini to rival the Mini. The small Cadillac was one of the surprises at the 2010 Los Angeles auto show and our reporters on the ground are calling it one of the hits of the show. Clay Dean, director of GM North America, said the Cadillac Urban Luxury Concept stood comparison with Europe's finest city cars. At just under 4 metres long and 1.7 metres wide, he has a point.
